My Experience With Selling On ThredUp

With a lot of thrift stores closed during the time of quarantine, a lot of people found ThredUp to shop on. I haven’t ever shopped on there, but I have sold a lot. I’m on my sixth closet clean out kit and I’ve made around $150. I don’t buy very expensive brands, but if I did my payout would be even harder.

How it works:

  • You order a free closet clean out kit and they ship it to you.
  • You fill it with everything you want to get rid of, as long as it is in good condition. They don’t take pajamas, bras (besides swim and sports), underwear, or overly formal dresses (like wedding dresses, etc.).
  • They go through your kit and pick what they can sell. You are able to get back the items they won’t sell, you just have to pay.
  • Once the items are chosen, they take pictures, do the descriptions, and price the items. Once done they let you alter the prices if you want.
  • All the items go through a 12 hour bidding window, which can help you sell even faster. After that, they will sell normally in a 60 to 90 day window.
  • ThredUp ships the items and deals with everything once it sells. Some items can be returned, so you have to wait 14 days until you can get your money.
  • They credit you the money once it sells and there are many ways you can get the money. You can use it on the ThredUp site, another clothing site they have listed, or have it sent to your PayPal or Stripe bank account.
  • That’s it! They do all the work and give you a percentage of the profits which I feel is fair.

Clean out kits are temporarily paused, just so they can catch up on everything because of high demand and reduced staff. They have it to where you can sign up to be notified though.

I do have a referral code, if you’ve never heard of ThredUp before. http://www.thredup.com/r/PAGOVS

Hope you enjoyed this! It is a bit different than what I usually write. Thank you all for reading! Until next time.
