Brazos Bend State Park

These past few days we were staying in Brazos Bend State Park. We had a great little vacation filled with lots of hiking and other fun. The park is gorgeous and has tons of hiking trails and there are lots of things to do in the surrounding areas as well. While we didn’t get to do everything we wanted to do, I thought I’d share all the places we did get to go to. Enjoy!

Hiking in the park:

Almost all of the trails we went on were very easy to hike. Nothing was too muddy or overgrown. The paths were pretty level and fairly wide as well. If you biked, you could very easily ride your bike on the trails. Most of the trails we went on are covered by trees and mostly out of the sun, but there are quite a few we didn’t go on that have no shade. There are benches along the paths every so often so you can have a rest if need be.

There are tons of wildlife to been seen in the area. Most common at the park are many species of birds, alligators, insects, deer, squirrels, and turtles. We saw all of these on our trip, but you could most definitely see wildlife on your own trip. There are strict rules about the wildlife, (as there should be) so just make sure you read up on all the park rules.

One thing I did notice a bunch of in the park was trash. So many people just threw their trash into the water or over on the side of the trails. Sometimes even in the trail. This can hurt the wildlife and even kill them. Plus it definitely isn’t good for the Earth. If you go hiking, make sure you keep a handle on your trash. There are always trashcans at the bathrooms and picnic areas that you can use.

We did go out to eat one time and that was at the Ol’ Railroad Cafe. They had amazing burgers and sandwiches. I got the Spicy Cali Club and it was so good. You will definitely be full. Here’s their website if you’d like to check them out: HOME | ol-railroad-cafe (olrailroadcafe.com) They are close to a lot of antique stores if that is something you like to do.
