Dreamworks Date Night-The Croods: A New Age Edition

All movie rights belong to Dreamworks. My interpretations are my own.

While I typically do this post with Disney movies, I had to use my newest movie obsession: Croods: A New Age. This is the sequel to Croods, and I love it just as much as the first one. I’ve seen it so many times that I just had to do a Dreamworks Date Night.

The Movie:

Still searching for a place to settle down after the cataclysmic events of The Croods (2013), the overprotective prehistoric patriarch, Grug, leads his family to the great unknown. Hoping for the best in an increasingly dangerous world, while trying to come to terms with Eep and Guy’s budding romance, Grug stumbles upon a secluded Eden of plenty, containing everything that they have been seeking. However, there is a catch. This verdant heaven on Earth is already occupied by the significantly more evolved Bettermans: Phil, Hope, and their daughter, Dawn. Now, as tensions boil over between the antagonistic clans, a new menace threatens the future of both families. Can the Croods and the Bettermans put aside their differences to fight the common enemy, and live to tell the tale?

The Food:

  • Banana Bread- At the end of the movie, the “bros” make their bronana bread, so I of course had to make banana bread.
  • Bananas- Bananas have a large appearance in this movie. While I didn’t have any in the picture, it would definitely be great to have with the movie.
  • Fruit- There are tons of weird fruit throughout the movie. Berries, cantaloupe, pineapple, and watermelon would be perfect.
  • Eggs- Eggs are also featured in the movie because of the chicken seals. I didn’t have any with mine, but its another choice.
  • Milk- One contender for a drink to have with your meal. They have shark milk in one scene, so it is definitely a choice.
  • Coffee- In the movie they have “bitter bean juice”, so coffee is perfect. I can’t handle coffee at night, so I passed on it this time.
  • Juice- They have lots of different juices throughout the movie, and while I didn’t have any juice to pour, I just ended up using a juice pouch.

Activities:

  • Gardening: The Bettermans have a huge garden in the movie where they grow their food. I didn’t have a chance to do this but it would be a fun activity.
  • Baking: Phil and Grug bake their bronana bread together and had a blast so I wanted to incorporate baking into an activity. I of course made banana bread for my food, but you could always bake something else too.
  • Vanilla Bath Products: I like to include a beauty activity in each movie date, and vanilla is a common scent incorporated into the bath products in The Croods so I wanted to carry that into my own bath products for my date night.
  • Pet Play: Thunk has a pet that he does play with in the movie. Once he discovers the “window”, it does get played with less and his pet gets ignored, but it all ends up okay in the end. I always love on my fur babies, so it wasn’t any different then what I usually do.
  • Pick Flowers: I loved doing this. We have tons of wild flowers right now so I really wanted to pick some flowers. If you can’t pick any, you can always buy some or even use fake flowers. This was inspired by Hope’s table decoration in one of the scenes.

Thank you so much for reading! Have you seen this movie? If so, how did you like it? You can also view my Disney Date Night posts here: Disney – A Little Bite of Life. Until next time.
