I love scrolling Pinterest and finding new recipes. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I wanted to try some new recipes. I picked five out and made them. These are my thoughts and how my recreation went.
Cupid Floats
The original recipe: Cupid Float Valentine’s Day Drink | Somewhat Simple
I could not find cherry 7-Up anywhere! I tried to find cherry Sprite and failed there too. I wanted to try it with cherry seltzer hoping it would be kind of the same…it was not. Do not try it. I ended up just using Big Red since I knew it worked. I didn’t buy any licorice straws but it would definitely add to the look. I did put a few heart sprinkles on top instead. I can’t say if this recipe was great or a flop, as you can tell but it would be something easy to try (you know, if your store actually carried cherry 7-Up/Sprite)
Valentines Day Bark
The original recipe: Valentine Bark Recipe – Mommy Evolution
This was so good and easy to make! I added sprinkles to mine just for a little extra, but I really enjoyed making these. I didn’t make the full recipe either.
Strawberry Valentine Chex Mix
The original recipe: STRAWBERRY VALENTINE CHEX MIX – Butter with a Side of Bread
Oh my gosh, this was so good. This was probably my favorite thing I made, even though I could not find the right chocolate. In the recipe it says you can mix white chocolate with strawberry creme pudding. I couldn’t find the pudding so I used Sonic’s strawberry shake pudding instead and it turned out great.
Pepperoni Roses
The original recipe: Pepperoni Roses Recipe ~ Perfect for the Season of Love – Maryland Momma’s Rambles (mommarambles.com)
I did not like this recipe. It was a lot of work and they didn’t turn out all that great looking. I followed the recipe using the whole pepperonis and it was a pain. I cut the pepperonis in half and it worked a bit better but not great still. I would honestly just rather make a heart shaped pizza or but the pepperonis into hearts, but that’s just me. Feel free to try this yourself.
Valentine’s Day Trail Mix
The original recipe: Valentine’s Day Snack (theprintableprincess.com)
This was really good and easy to make. I didn’t make a whole lot and just kind of eyed the amounts. On the website, they talk about using it at schools and letting the kids mix it together. I will say, I wish my marshmallows were smaller. I wanted to use the vanilla cupcake goldfish like the recipe called for but they were out at my stores. I also could not find vanilla Chex so I used chocolate Chex.
Those are all the recipes I tried out! I bought me some big strawberries to dip in chocolate for the ultimate Valentine’s weekend. Hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day! Thank you for reading. Until next time.
