I got twelve books read this month which is pretty good for me. I read mostly romance and fantasy, but I do have a manga and suspense thrown in there too. I do have several series in here so I’ll post the synopsis for the first book in that case. Comment down below if you’ve read any of these books!
Moon Chosen by P.C. Cast

It is not until Nik, the son of the leader from a rival, dominating Tribe, strays across her path that Mari experiences something she has never felt before… Now evil is coming, and with it, a force more terrible and destructive than the world has ever seen, leaving Mari to cast the shadows from the earth. By breaking Clan Law and forming an alliance with Nik, she must make herself ready. Ready to save her people. Ready to save herself and Nik. Ready to embrace her true destiny…and battle the forces that threaten to destroy them all.
This was a pretty good book. I did like it and cried quite a bit because of it. I have the second one that I need to read soon.
Third Time’s The Charm by Josie Cara
If at first, you don’t succeed…Jenna Whitley’s life is great. Until a plane crash rocks her world and shatters her existence. While Jenna thinks the most important people in her life can help her reassemble the pieces, she quickly realizes maybe that’s not the answer. Sometimes, a person has to learn to love who they’ve become after tragedy before others can love them. Distraught, Jenna decides to move away and see where fate takes her—one step at a time. Joe Walsh feels a kinship with the beautiful stranger the minute she walks into his diner. He can see the same pain in her eyes that he sees in his and knows that he will do whatever it takes to help Jenna heal and keep that stunning smile on her face. Unfortunately, her past isn’t done with her, and Joe knows it’s only a matter of time before it comes knocking. But he also knows that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to defend what he loves and honors in his life. When past and present collide, the couple is forced to face the reality that life’s too short, and happiness should be seized. Despite their past burdens, they’ve found something not many people do when starting over—their person. Sometimes, the third time really is the charm.
This wasn’t one of my favorites, but it was still a pretty good book. There are a few characters in here that I adore, but definitely not a favorite of mine.
Deadman’s Cross Trilogy by Sherrilyn Kenyon- Deadmen Walking, Death Doesn’t Bargain, and At Death’s Door
For Deadmen Walking: To catch evil, it takes evil. Enter Devyl Bane―an ancient dark warlord returned to the human realm as one of the most notorious pirates in the New World. A man of many secrets, Bane makes a pact with Thorn―an immortal charged with securing the worst creations the ancient gods ever released into our world. Those powers have been imprisoned for eons behind enchanted gates . . . gates that are beginning to buckle. At Thorn’s behest, Bane takes command of a crew of Deadmen and, together, they are humanity’s last hope to restore the gates and return the damned to their hell realms. But things are never so simple. And one of Bane’s biggest problems is the ship they sail upon. For the Sea Witch isn’t just a vessel, she’s also a woman born of an ancient people he wronged and who in turn wronged him during a centuries long war between their two races―a woman who is also sister to their primary target. Now Marcelina, the Sea Witch, must choose. Either she remains loyal to her evil sister and almost extinct race against Bane and his cause, and watches humanity fall, or she puts faith in an enemy who has already betrayed her. Her people over the totality of humanity―let’s hope Bane can sway her favor.
I loved this trilogy! Death Doesn’t Bargain was probably my favorite book but all three were such a great read.
Tested By Fire by Kathryn Springer
Scarred ex-cop John Gabriel didn’t need anyone else’s problems, but he couldn’t refuse a request from his former chief. Chief Kelly wanted him to keep an eye on his granddaughter, Fiona, a young police officer facing a dangerous work situation. John quickly saw that Fiona was in trouble, investigating a serial arsonist without support. And John was the one who ended up rescuing her from a burning building. But could Fiona’s strong faith rub off on the cynical John?
This was a good Love Inspired book. Such a good read with a hint of suspense.

This is a series read last month, if you’d like to know more check out that post: April 2021 Reads – A Little Bite of Life Still love this series and I’m sad I only have one more to go and I don’t even own it!
Savaged Illusions book 2 and 3: Savaged Vows and Savaged Devotion by Jennifer Lyon
This was the last two in the Savaged Illusions trilogy. For information on the first one, I also read it last month: April 2021 Reads – A Little Bite of Life This was such an amazing series and I loved it so much! It ended so cute and I’m so glad I read this.
The Hypnotist’s Love Story by Liane Moriarty
Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk. Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised. It turns out that Patrick’s ex-girlfriend is stalking him. Ellen thinks, Actually, that’s kind of interesting. She’s dating someone worth stalking. She’s intrigued by the woman’s motives. In fact, she’d even love to meet her. Ellen doesn’t know it, but she already has.
I wanted to like this book more than I actually did. I love Liane Moriarty’s writing, but this wasn’t one of her better ones. It was still good, just not a favorite.
King’s Ransom by Marie Johnston
It was supposed to be a simple case of revenge: get to know King Tech owner and CEO Beckett King, learn his secrets, and ruin his life like he ruined my brother’s. But Beckett King offers me a deal I can’t refuse. Not only does he want me to pretend to be engaged to him, he needs to marry me to get his grandmother off his back. And at the end of the year, we can go our separate ways, only I’ll be a whole lot richer. I won’t fall for his irresistible good looks, or that aw, shucks country-boy charm he still possesses from growing up on a ranch. I’m smarter than that. He has a lesson to learn and I’m the best one to teach him. But that’s the tricky thing with revenge. It doesn’t always go as planned.
I loved this book. It was so good and I can’t wait to read more in the Oil Kings series. *This is a series but can be read as a standalone*
Two Kinds Of Us by Sarah Sutton
In a life of diamond bracelets and country clubs, I’m the perfect daughter. I get all the right grades, volunteer at all the right organizations, apply to all the right colleges. And I hate every second of it. At the rate my life is playing out, under the strict rule of my parents, politicians and housewives will be my future. Until I meet Harry. Harry’s a singer in a rock band with a voice so drop-dead sexy that I actually feel hypnotized. Doesn’t hurt that he’s hot either, and with the kind, flirty personality to match, it’s the perfect trifecta. And even better, he sees the me I want to be. The me who can break free of the life I’m trapped in, the me who can control my own future. The only problem? He knows me as Stella, my fun, carefree alter-ego—so drastically different than Destelle, the one who is trapped in the life my parents rule for me. But as we get closer, I realize Harry’s keeping a secret of his own, something related to his dark past that he’s trying to move on from, and when I find out, everything we’ve built could come crashing down.
I haven’t quite finished this book, but I’ll definitely have it finished in the next few days. I’m loving this book. Sarah Sutton is an amazing writer and I am so happy I got an ARC of this!
Thank you all for reading! What did you read this month? Hope you enjoyed this post. Until next time.
