I read quite a few books this month. I got twelve read and only one was a manga this month. Hope you enjoy this blog post!
On The Edge by Pamela Britton
Unknown NASCAR driver Adam Drake has some of the best moves Rebecca Newman has ever seen, both on and off the track. But she can’t afford to feel anything but respect for the new driver she’s hired to pilot her race car. With the financial security of her team hanging in the balance and everyone in the series thinking she’s nuts, the last thing she needs is lust getting in the way of logic. Too bad Adam has other ideas. Adam isn’t afraid of a challenge, but getting close to his new owner is proving to be a tougher road than some of the superspeedways he’s driven. It’s going to take a secret weapon–his daughter. Soon his precocious ten-year-old has Rebecca on the run–straight into Adam’s arms. But can he convince her to stay with him, and leave behind the ghosts of her past once and for all?
I loved this book. I really like NASCAR related books and this one was perfect for me. I can’t wait to read more of this series!
Harlequin More Than Words: Where Dreams Begin by Sherryl Woods, Christina Skye and Pamela Morsi
Each of us can effect change. In our own unique ways, we can all make the world a better place. We need only to take that first step, do that first good deed and the ripple effect will be life- changing to so many. Three extraordinary women who were compelled to take that first leap and make a difference have been chosen as recipients of Harlequin’s More Than Words award. To celebrate their accomplishments, three bestselling authors have written short stories inspired by these real-life heroines. Sherryl Woods captures the magic of pretty dresses and first dances in Black Tie and Promises. Christina Skye’s Safely Home is the story of a woman determined to help the elderly in her newly adopted community. Pamela Morsi explores how literacy and the love of reading can enrich and indeed change lives, in Daffodils in Spring.
This was a good book. I really like Harlequin’s More Than Words series, and this one wasn’t any different. I enjoy learning about people that really make a difference in other people’s lives.
Love At First by Kate Clayborn
Sixteen years ago, a teenaged Will Sterling saw—or rather, heard—the girl of his dreams. Standing beneath an apartment building balcony, he shared a perfect moment with a lovely, warm-voiced stranger. It’s a memory that’s never faded, though he’s put so much of his past behind him. Now an unexpected inheritance has brought Will back to that same address, where he plans to offload his new property and get back to his regular life as an overworked doctor. Instead, he encounters a woman, two balconies above, who’s uncannily familiar . . . No matter how surprised Nora Clarke is by her reaction to handsome, curious Will, or the whispered pre-dawn conversations they share, she won’t let his plans ruin her quirky, close-knit building. Bound by her loyalty to her adored grandmother, she sets out to foil his efforts with a little light sabotage. But beneath the surface of their feud is an undeniable connection. A balcony, a star-crossed couple, a fateful meeting—maybe it’s the kind of story that can’t work out in the end. Or maybe, it’s the perfect second chance . . .
This was such a sweet adult romance. I loved the main characters so much. This was my first Kate Clayborn book, but it certainly won’t be my last.
Hot On Her Heels by Susan Mallery
Dana Birch vowed never to put herself at the mercy of a powerful man. She became a deputy so that she could take care of herself, and protect those she loved. Especially her best friends, the Titan sisters. Twenty years ago, Garth Duncan swore revenge on Jed Titan for abandoning Garth and his mother. Now he s back to fulfill that promise, even if Jed s daughters get caught in the crosshairs. All that stands between him and his goal is Dana, her gun, and a growing passion that can’t be denied…
This was a really good book. I really enjoyed it, like I do with all of Susan Mallery’s books.
The Cat, The Quilt, and The Corpse by Leann Sweeney
Jill’s quiet life is shattered when her house is broken into and her Abyssinian, Syrah, goes missing. Jill’s convinced her kitty’s been catnapped. But when her cat-crime-solving leads her to a murdered body, suddenly all paws are pointing to Jill. Soon, Jill discovers that Syrah isn’t the only purebred who’s been stolen. Now she has to find these furry felines before they all become the prey of a cold-blooded killer-and she ends up nabbed for a crime…
This story was very easy to get into. I love cozy mysteries and this one had everything I like in a story.
His Immortal Embrace by Hannah Howell, Lynsay Sands, Sara Blayne, and Kate Huntington
1 The Yearning by Hannah Howell: Tormented by an ancient curse, the young men of Clan MacCordy reach manhood only to walk forever in darkness, thirsting for blood–and Alpin MacCordy is no different. He must wed for coin and land, despite his betrothed’s terror–and his own fascination for another woman, Lady Sophie Hay. 2 Bitten by Lynsay Sands:
After brooding Keeran MacKay saves Emily Wentworth Collins from a storm-tossed ship: he offers her shelter in his secluded castle. But when a savage kiss reveals Keeran’s true nature, Emily realizes that yielding to Keeran’s untamed desire may change her own life. . .forever. 3 Stranger in the Night by Sara Blayne: Georgiana Thornberry hopes to unearth ancient treasure while exploring the moldering ruins of her ancestral home. Instead she encounters Julius Lathrop. Does the enigmatic–and disturbingly attractive–stranger hold the key to a family legend? Or something far more sinister? 4 The Awakening by Kate Huntington: Orphaned Thalia Layton is stricken to hear that her beloved, eccentric Aunt Cordelia has taken ill. But upon her arrival at Cordelia’s remote estate, Thalia discovers that her aunt has harbored dangerous secrets–and that Thalia’s own attraction to Adrian Lucerne, Cordelia’s mysterious–and oddly nocturnal–companion, may prove to be a sensual temptation that will cost her life. . .
I really liked Hanna Howell and Lynsay Sand’s books, but I wasn’t too crazy about the other two stories. They were all good, but the last two weren’t my favorite.
Ain’t Myth-Behaving by Katie MacAlister
STAG PARTY: Dane Hearne — also known as the Irish fertility god Cernunnos — must choose a bride quickly. His long-time goddess has run off with a salsa dancer, and Dane must be married by Beltane, just a week away, or become a mortal — and die. When he meets American travel writer Megan St. Clair, he knows he’s found his soul mate. But while Dane is a sexy Irish hunk with his fair share of blarney, can he convince Megan to marry him in just one week? NORSE TRULY: Alrik Sigurdsson is cursed to sail his Viking ship along the same stretch of Scandinavian coastline forever. So when lovely American Brynna Lund skids her car off the road into the ocean, he and his men are happy for the diversion of rescuing her. Then Alrik discovers that Brynna is the only woman who can break the curse. Is it any wonder that he’s determined to keep her…forever?
While I liked Norse Truly better, both stories in this book were really good and full of humor.
Aussie Rules by Jill Shalvis
It’s fair to say that gutsy pilot Mel Anderson is happier in the air than on the ground. But she also has to clean up after her disorganized best friend and business partner and keep an eye on their employees, who tend to make more work than they get done. Now, the one man she hoped she’d never see again is back and looking for trouble. The kind of trouble that keeps Mel grounded in a most unexpectedly pleasurable way . . . Bo Black wants his family’s airport back, and he’s determined to get it. He might be a laid-back Aussie, but he’s also nobody’s fool. And neither is Mel. She’s intense. Uptight. Sexy. And very, very tempting. Suddenly, Bo’s thinking less about revenge and more about kissing and touching and falling into a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of forever love . .
This book was amazing! I ended up reading it in one night because I couldn’t put it down. Such a good read.
Didn’t I Say To Make My Abilities Average In The Next Life?! Story by FUNA and Itsuki Akata and Art by Nekomint
When it comes to reincarnation, most people hope for a better life–except for recent high school graduate, Kurihara Misato. She wants an average life! Unfortunately for her, thanks to God’s…interesting interpretation of “average,” she is reborn as a young girl with incredible magical powers. Can she achieve the normal life she’s always longed for or will her not-so-average abilities betray her?
This was a really good manga. I really want to continue the series now.
The Leaving Season by Cat Jordan
Middie Daniels calls it the Leaving Season—the time of year when everyone graduates high school, packs up their brand-new suitcases, and leaves home for the first time. It happens every late August, but this year Middie’s boyfriend, Nate, is the one leaving. Nate, who’s so perfect that she can barely believe it. Nate, who makes her better than she is on her own. Nate, who’s promised to come back once he’s finished his gap year volunteering in Central America. And when he does, it’ll be time for Middie to leave, too. With him. But when tragedy strikes, Middie’s whole world is set spinning. No one seems to understand just how lost she is… except for Nate’s best friend Lee. Middie and Lee have never gotten along. She’s always known that she was destined for great things, and Lee acts like he’s never cared about anything a day in his life. But with the ground ripped out from under her, Middie is finding that up is down—and that Lee Ryan might be just what she needs to find her footing once more.
I loved this book. It was such an emotional read and I couldn’t put it down.
Innocent In Death by J.D. Robb
When history teacher Craig Foster is found dead in his classroom, his young wife is devastated, and his family, friends and colleagues all shocked. The two ten-year old students who discovered his body may be traumatised for life. Magdalena Percell, an old flame of Eve’s billionaire husband Roarke, has turned up in New York, and she’s anything but innocent. Unfortunately, Roarke seems blind to Magdalena’s maniuplations, but not to her shapely figure and flirtatious ways. But Eve will have to put aside her potential heartbreak, for a while at least- because another man has just turned up dead…
Oh my gosh… this book takes you on a wild ride. The killer in this book doesn’t come out until almost the end and I certainly never guessed. Plus I liked that I got to see more of Roarke and Eve’s life together in this book while they fought through their own problems.
Demonbane by Marie Robinson
To start a new life, all I have to do is seduce one of the legendary Talon warriors. Cazien “Demonbane” Talon is searching for the Lost King’s treasure and he hires the Hallows to help. For what he’s paying, I’m willing to go back to the island haunting my past. I have a second secret task: get close to Cazien, so when the time is right, we can take the treasure for ourselves. I can’t say no, but I can’t let anyone know I’m completely inexperienced in love. When the fierce, arrogant, and devastatingly handsome warrior breaks down my walls, my body and soul burn for his touch. If my betrayal is discovered, Cazien will kill me without hesitation. If I’m successful, I’ll finally have my new start. Either way, one of us will be shattered.
I loved this book so much. It was so easy to get lost in this book. I loved the main characters and I can’t wait to get to read more in the future. This was one of my favorite reads for the month.
There’s all the books I read this month! Have you read any of these? What books did you read this month? Thank you so much for reading. If you haven’t already, subscribe down below for my post updates. Until next time.
