July was a great reading month for me. My Wifi was out quite a bit, so instead of getting to watch YouTube all the time, I got a bunch of reading done. I am honestly surprised by how much I got read this month, but I’m super happy to share all the great books I read. Here’s all I read this month!
Fantasy:
- Strange Candy by Laurell K. Hamilton- I’m a sucker for any Laurell K. Hamilton book, so with tons of short stories, this one was a winner for me. There were so many cool, crazy, romantic, and sad stories in here.
- Eternal: More Love Stories With Bite Edited by P.C. Cast- There were so many great writers in this anthology! I really liked all the stories and will be happily putting this on my shelf with all my other anthologies.
Romance:
- Never Too Much by Lori Foster- This was such a cute story. This was one of the first books I started with this month, and it was a great one.
- Mother By Design by Susan Mallery, Christine Rimmer, and Laurie Paige- These three stories flowed together so nicely. The romances were cute and hopeful.
- Charlie All Night by Jennifer Crusie- This romance was hilarious. I laughed so much, plus it was a great romance with a hint of mystery.
- Pine Country Cowboy by Glynna Kaye- I put this book off for quite a while, but once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. This is a Love Inspired book, so it was nice and clean too.
- Aftershock by Jill Shalvis-I’ve enjoyed many of Jill Shalvis’ books, so I knew I would enjoy this one. I loved the characters and the development for each one. Plus this book came with a bonus book (see next book)!
- Exposed: Misbehaving With the Magnate by Kelly Hunter- This book was included in Aftershock. At first, I wasn’t sure I wasn’t going to like it. I’m not used to reading books like this. The more I read, however, the more I liked it. There were quite a few surprises thrown in, so it kept you guessing. Let’s just say I read this book in under two hours 🙂
- Wolves, Boys, and Other Things That Might Kill Me by Kristen Chandler- This book isn’t completely a romance, although there are romantic elements in it. I wasn’t really certain where to put it however. Originally, picking it up I for some reason thought it was going to have werewolves in it. I was so wrong! There are wolves in here, but just plain wild wolves. The story is so good though. There are bits of humor as well as sadness. I finished this book in one day it was so good. This is a young adult novel, but I feel like a lot of different ages could read it.
Manga:
- Slayers Vol. 1 and 2 by Hajime Kanzaka- For a manga, I was expecting a lot more “pictures”. This is more like a book with a few drawings thrown in. I wasn’t disappointed though. The story was great and now I want to finish out the series.
- Demon Diary Vol. 1 and 2 by Kara (Art) and Lee Chi Hyong/ Lee Yum Hee- There are two different people who wrote the story from Vol. 1 and 2, but you really can’t tell. I really enjoyed this manga. The art is incredible too. I have all but vol. 3 and 4, so I will definitely be picking them up.
Mystery/Horror/Creepy: (whatever you want to call it :$)
- Spirits of San Antonio and south Texas by Docia Schultz Williams and Reneta Byrne- As a Texas girl, I love reading about some of our haunted history. I live close to San Antonio, so it was pretty cool to learn about some of the haunted buildings near me.
- All Sales Final by Josie Belle- This was an amazing book! There was romance, mystery, humor, and so much more! I really enjoyed this book so much! I’ve read maybe one other Josie Belle book before and really liked that one too.
- Beef Stolen-Off by Liz Lipperman- This was a pretty good mystery. I certainly never could figure out the killer, but I also never really tried. This book was a bit hard to get into, but it was set in Texas and talks all about different beef cattle. It was very interesting to say the least.
Children’s:
- The Llama Llama series by Anna Dewdney- I had always wanted to check out this series, so when I earned a few books from Kellogg’s Feeding Reading program, I decided to get a couple. Both were enjoyable and would be great for a kid. There are some moms that read my blog, so I figured I would include kids books when I do read them.
Thank you all so much for reading! I hope you all enjoyed getting to see what I all got read this month. I know I certainly enjoyed going back over it all.
