I didn’t get a lot of books read in February unfortunately. I think since I read so many in January, I put myself into a bit of a slump. I did have a lot of great reads this month and hopefully I get a lot read in March.
Dark Obsession by Cora Kent
Marry once for duty; marry twice for obsession. I was meant for more than teaching Psychology at Blackmore University. I am the second son of the Family’s consigliere. They married me to a widow who quickly passed. My inheritance—her daughter. I admit that I have looked favorably upon her over the years. I admit that intentions have been less than noble. But now she’s at Blackmore. Away from the Family’s watchful eyes… Away from her uncles who see right through me… Away from everything that keeps us apart… They call our love forbidden. I call it endgame.
I really enjoyed this! This was very taboo and so addicting. I loved the friendships and family elements.
Butter My Biscuit by Lyra Parish
Harrison Valentine is my best friend and the king of one-night stands. And hi—nice to meet you—I’m the queen of failed relationships. Commitment issues are something we have in common, or so I thought. Then the devil delivers his kiss of death, and it puts me in a chokehold. I expect a f*ck boy, but he wants forever. And it scares me. When I finally see the magic we made together, it’s too late. Because he’s now engaged. To someone else.
This book hurt. I wanted to shake these characters so many times for acting dumb. It all worked out in the end. I loved this book so much and can’t wait for more in this series.
Gargoyle’s Spring by Gracie Cooper
Ibis Heliodoro is a Light Witch of The Order at The Veil. There’s just one problem. Her magic is broken. What witch cannot do magic, some may ask? Ibis Heliodoro. That witch. Cast out by the Coven for her lack of magical skills, Ibis is banished into the sacred walls of the library. Feeling outcasted and alone, Ibis spends her evenings reading to her familiars and the stone statue that takes up half the space of her small room, trying hard not to drown her hurt feelings in ice cream. Until her best friend comes in with one of her inventive ideas to cheer Ibis. Afterall, what’s better than a book boyfriend come to life? There was just one small obstacle to their master plan. The spell needs to be completed by Ibis. He is a Gargoyle. One without a past. One with an unknown future. One with a bestowed name. Oliver. What kind of name is this? After being summoned by witches and brought into a strange world, he is cursed by those same witches. What kind of curse, some may ask? A stone-sleep curse. One that sends a Gargoyle into total darkness that is beyond sleep. Beyond reality, until he hears her voice. A voice calling him forward, bringing him back into the bizarre world surrounded by scriptures, scrolls and unusual animals. His fate lies in the hands of the enchanting clumsy witch, who breaks his curse. What happens when a magic spell goes wrong in all the right ways?
This was so sweet and fun. I loved these characters.
A Sweet Mess by Jayci Lee
Aubrey Choi loves living in her small town nestled in the foothills of California, running her highly successful bakery away from the watch of her strict Korean parents. When a cake mix-up and a harsh review threaten all of her hard work and her livelihood, she never thought the jaded food critic would turn out to be her one-night stand. And she sure as hell never thought she’d see her gorgeous Korean unicorn again. But when Landon Kim waltzes into her bakery trying to clean up the mess he had a huge hand in making, Aubrey is torn between throwing and hearing him out. When she hears his plan to help save her business, Aubrey knows that spending three weeks in California wine country working with Landon is a sure recipe for disaster. Her head is telling her to take the chance to save her bakery while her heart—and her hormones—are at war on whether to give him a second chance. And it just so happens that Landon’s meddling friends want them to spend those three weeks as close as possible…by sharing a villa. When things start heating up, both in and out of the kitchen, Aubrey will have to make a choice—to stick it out or risk her heart.
I really enjoyed this and could not put it down. I’m definitely craving all the pastries now.
Rosario + Vampire Season 2 Volume 1, 2, 3, and 4 by Akihisa Ikeda
Average human teenager Tsukune accidentally enrolls at a boarding school for monsters–no, not jocks and popular kids, but bona fide werewolves, witches and unnameables out of his wildest nightmares! On the plus side, all the girls have a monster crush on him. On the negative side, all the boys are so jealous they want to kill him! And so do the girls he spurns, because he only has eyes for one of them–the far-from-average vampire Moka. On the plus side, Moka only has glowing red eyes for Tsukune. On the O-negative side, she also has a burning, unquenchable thirst for his blood...
I missed these characters and am so glad to be back with them. These manga are always hilarious and such a good, crazy time.
Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins
Being one of the guys isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…So when journalist Chastity O’Neill returns to her hometown, she decides it’s time to start working on some of those feminine wiles. Two tiny problems: #1–she’s five feet eleven inches of rock-solid girl power, and #2–she’s cursed with four alpha male older brothers. Now there’s only one problem: Trevor Meade, her first love and the one man she’s never quite gotten over–although he seems to have gotten over her just fine. Yet the more time she spends with Dr. Perfect, the better Trevor looks. This was such a fun, sweet read. I laughed and cried so much in here.

I enjoyed this. Not really my type of book but there was still a lot I agreed with.
Scorch by Sarah Jaeger
Ansel My job is to take in fractured wolves and fix them. At least I try. I get them stable and they move on, or I bring them to a dignified end. Morrigan Hart won’t be any different. I have every intention of setting her up for a better life. Far, far away from here. She’s young, head strong, and reminds me of her father — my best friend. Morrigan: Ansel Abbot is the last person I wanted to see, but he’s the key to my freedom. I’ve traded a human prison for a chance his wolf doesn’t murder me. He’s infuriating. His positivity borderlines toxic and he has more patience than I have love for peanut butter. But I can’t stop flirting with him. A countdown has started. Can I make it through the year or will I end up his next victim?
I loved this so much! Ansel has been my favorite character since the first book and I loved his story. I cried so much in this book. These characters are everything and I can’t wait for more of their stories.
Wind Chime Point by Sherryl Woods
Facing a personal crisis, ambitious and driven Gabriella Castle retreats to the welcoming arms of her family. Everything she’s worked for has been yanked out from under her, and she seeks the serenity of her grandmother’s home on the North Carolina coast. With difficult decisions to make about her future, the last thing she wants is an unexpected love. Wade Johnson fell for Gabi the first time he saw her. It’s not the only time he’s found himself in the role of knight in shining armor, but Gabi isn’t looking for a rescuer. To get her to stay, Wade will need a whole lot of patience and gentle persuasion…and maybe the soothing sound of wind chimes on a summer breeze.
This was such a sweet romance. I loved that there wasn’t a third act break up and that they fell in love naturally. Some very funny moments and a few that made me tear up.
Home to Whiskey Creek by Brenda Novak
Adelaide Davies, who’s been living in Sacramento, returns to Whiskey Creek, the place she once called home. She’s there to take care of her aging grandmother and to help with Gran’s restaurant, Just Like Mom’s. But Adelaide isn’t happy to be back. There are too many people here she’d rather avoid-people who were involved in the events of that terrible June night fifteen years ago. Ever since the graduation party that changed her life, she’s wanted to go to the police and make sure that the boys who were responsible-men now-are punished. But she can’t, not without revealing an even darker secret. So it’s better to pretend. Noah Rackham, popular, attractive, and successful, is shocked when Adelaide won’t have anything to do with him. He has no idea that his very presence reminds her of something she’d rather forget. He only knows that he’s finally met a woman he could love.
I’ve loved so many other books in this series, this one just didn’t hit quite as good as the rest for me. I liked all the difficult topics covered in here, but something was just missing for me. I can’t wait to read more in this series though.
Those are all the books I read this month. Hope you enjoyed! Until next time.
