I read a lot of books in 2021 and picking ten favorites were hard. I had to pick ten and rank them, which took forever because I had a lot of great books that I read. These are the ten that I picked, although there were a few more I wanted to add.
- Ten Rules For Faking It by Sophie Sullivan- I don’t know what it was about this book, but this whole year I just couldn’t recommend it enough. This was Sophie’s debut novel under this name, and it was incredible. I loved the anxiety rep and I liked that Everly wasn’t perfect. Chris was an amazing hero too and Everly had great, supportive friends.
- Stolen Threadwitch Bride by Clare Sager- This was such a cute, fae filled fantasy that I absolutely loved. I really want to read the rest in this “series” even though the rest aren’t by Clare. I love her writing and I can’t wait to see what else she writes.
- Christmas As We Know It by Sarah Sutton- 2021 was the year I read almost all of Sarah’s works. She is an incredible author and I’ve loved every book she’s written so far. This one is my favorite of hers, but all of her books are so good. They all could have made it into my top ten really and truly.
- Romancing The Gravestone by Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe- This was such a cute, cozy mystery! I love Gena Showalter and loved getting to read a new genre by this author. I will definitely be checking out Jill’s works now too. This book was fun and I liked getting to read about a fun, quirky character and her love interest. I can’t wait for the next in the series.
- The Cruel Prince by Holly Black- I’ve wanted to read this book for a long time and finally got to read it this year. I loved it and need to continue on in the series immediately.
- The Warlord by Gena Showalter- Yes, another book by Gena. This is a fantasy and what she predominately writes, so of course it would be in my top ten. I loved how snarky the main character is and the premise of this book was so interesting. I can’t wait for the rest of the series!
- The Iron King by Julie Kagawa- I really got into books about fae this year. I really loved this first book and have already bought the next few books in the series.
- Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo- When I started reading this book, I never expected it would end up on this list. I had a hard time getting into it, but once I did I absolutely loved it. I loved the dark academia vibes and the crazy twists throughout the story. Galaxy is amazing and I really want to read more about Darlington. I have no idea when the sequel is coming out but I need it to come out soon.
- Demonbane by Marie Robinson- This was the first book I ever read by this author and I loved it. I loved the characters and the romance was incredible. There are so many things that happen in here that I didn’t see coming. I’ve been wanting to get the rest of the series, but haven’t done it yet.
- Death Doesn’t Bargain by Sherrilyn Kenyon- This was the second book in a trilogy. While I loved the whole series, this was my favorite. I wanted this romance in book one and the second one did it justice.
That’s my ten favorite books of 2021! Have you read any of these? What were some of your favorites of the year? Thank you for reading. Until next time.
