I love reading Manga and watching Anime. I’m always trying to find new ones and I love getting recommendations. I find I like a lot of the ones that aren’t super common, although I do like popular ones. I will leave a little bit about each one, and for the mangas leave the synopsis of the first book. I’ve made one post like this before, so I’ll be sure to link it down below. Hope this helps you find some ideas!
Mangas:
- Slayers by Hajime Kanzaka and Rui Araizumi: Lina Inverse doesn’t like to brag, but she’s a genius sorceress, invincible warrior, and a legend in her own lunchtime. Lina’s also in need of some cold cash. When she comes across some stolen loot, she figures the thieves won’t mind sharing. But it turns out that Lina also snags a secret hidden in the booty… And now everyone’s out to see if she’s got the goods!
- Wild Ones by Kiyo Fujiwara: Sachie Wakamura just lost her mother, and her estranged grandfather has shown up to take care of her. The only problem is that grandpa is the head of a yakuza gang! Too scared to join her new family, Sachie tries to continue living her normal life. She can’t run far though, since one of the most popular guys in school is part of her grandfather’s gang and her new protector. No one at school knows about Rakuto’s hidden life, and soon Sachie finds herself falling for her bodyguard. But she’s the granddaughter of Rakuto’s boss, and he can never show his feelings for her. Can Sachie find a way to fit into her new family and grab her chance at love?
- Demon Diary by Kara and Lee Chi-Hyong: Raenef is the black sheep of the demon court, with minimal knowledge of magic and courtly etiquette. In order to help him claim his birthright as a demon lord, the demon masters send him the wise and noble teacher Eclipse to be his tutor. As Raenef and Eclipse begin their journey of discovery, they find that the bonds of friendship are stronger than the teacher/student relationship.
- Rizelmine by Yukiru Sugisaki: The government has been conducting experiments to genetically engineer a human. Its first creation is a girl named Rizel, and the experiment is a success–sort of. While healthy and cheerful, 12-year-old Rizel also possesses the uncanny need for love to further her development. Saddened by this emptiness in her life, she sheds tears that can end up destroying a city block. So what’s a girl to do…except get married! Enter Iwaki Tomonori, your average 15-year-old boy. His world is turned upside-down the day he arrives home to find that the government has just announced that he’s a married man!
- Dragon Goes House-Hunting by Kawo Tanuki and Choco Aya: Letty is not very good at being a dragon. Actually, he’s so terrible at it that his dad went and kicked him out of the house! What’s a skittish monster of myth to do in a world where everyone sees him as material for their next suit of armor? Why, find a safe place to call home, of course. With the help of a slightly evil elvish architect, Letty’s quest for the ultimate draconic domicile begins!
- How Not To Summon A Demon Lord by Naoto Fukuda, Yukiya Murasaki, and Takahiro Tsurusaki: Takuma was just another awkward gamer, but a twist of fate sees him summoned to another world — in the body of a demon lord! And no one’s more terrified of the prospect than Takuma himself. He may have power, but he’s in way over his head. So he decides to pretend to be the monster he looks like, and accidentally winds up with a pair of gorgeous slaves: a voluptuous elf and cat girl. It’s not what any of them wanted, but they’ll have to figure out how to work together if they want to survive!
- Didn’t I Say To Make My Abilities Average In The Next Life?! by FUNA, Itsuki Akata, and Nekomint: When it comes to reincarnation, most people hope for a better life–except for recent high school graduate, Kurihara Misato. She wants an average life! Unfortunately for her, thanks to God’s…interesting interpretation of “average,” she is reborn as a young girl with incredible magical powers. Can she achieve the normal life she’s always longed for or will her not-so-average abilities betray her?
Anime:
- Yamada Kun and the 7 Witches: When Ryuu Yamada entered high school, he wanted to turn over a new leaf and lead a productive school life. That’s why he chose to attend Suzaku High, where no one would know of his violent delinquent reputation. However, much to Ryuu’s dismay, he is soon bored; now a second year, Ryuu has reverted to his old ways—lazy with abysmal grades and always getting into fights. One day, back from yet another office visit, Ryuu encounters Urara Shiraishi, a beautiful honors student. A misstep causes them both to tumble down the stairs, ending in an accidental kiss! The pair discover they can switch bodies with a kiss: an ability which will prove to be both convenient and troublesome. Learning of their new power, Toranosuke Miyamura, a student council officer and the single member of the Supernatural Studies Club, recruits them for the club. Soon joined by Miyabi Itou, an eccentric interested in all things supernatural, the group unearths the legend of the Seven Witches of Suzaku High, seven female students who have obtained different powers activated by a kiss. The Supernatural Studies Club embarks on its first quest: to find the identities of all the witches.
- Itazura na kiss: When her newly-built home is razed to the ground by an earthquake, low-achieving, clumsy, and troublesome third-year high school student Kotoko Aihara is forced to share a roof with the school’s—and possibly Japan’s—smartest student, Naoki Irie. Kotoko is not actually a complete stranger to Irie-kun; unfortunately, a single love letter that she tried to give him in the past has already sealed her fate as far as he is concerned. Throw in some quirky friends and a meddlesome mother, and Kotoko might not even have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the older Irie boy’s heart. Yet Kotoko remains optimistic that, because she now lives in his house, her unattainable crush on the genius since the beginning of high school has never been more within reach.
- Naruto: Moments prior to Naruto Uzumaki’s birth, a huge demon known as the Kyuubi, the Nine-Tailed Fox, attacked Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, and wreaked havoc. In order to put an end to the Kyuubi’s rampage, the leader of the village, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life and sealed the monstrous beast inside the newborn Naruto. Now, Naruto is a hyperactive and knuckle-headed ninja still living in Konohagakure. Shunned because of the Kyuubi inside him, Naruto struggles to find his place in the village, while his burning desire to become the Hokage of Konohagakure leads him not only to some great new friends, but also some deadly foes.
