This past week has been an experience, to say the least. It never really snows down in south Texas, so getting this much snow is crazy. The news has been filled with pretty much just talk about it all, but I figured I’d share my own experience as well as some pictures.
We’ve probably gotten close to five inches of snow as I’m writing this. It has melted away once and turned to ice and now its coming down again. It seems like everything is completely covered white again. It is very pretty to watch even though I know it can cause damages. Our power has been on and off for most of the time we’ve been having the bad weather. We were without power for almost 24 hours and my dad had turned off the water too. We’ve had, I think, seven pipes bust so my dad spent yesterday fixing what he could just so we could take a shower. It was still very low pressure, but since I got to shower, I didn’t really care.
Food has been interesting. We’ve been using a propane camping stove to cook, so its been limited in a way. We’ve even used the fireplace to cook. I’ve had more smores this past week than I’ve had in a long time. We cooking hamburgers last night, which actually made it feel like any normal day. We’re trying to figure out what else to have, that we can make easily on the small stove. Hopefully the electricity is on long enough for lunch and maybe we can use the big stove.
I know we are lucky compared to a lot of people and what they’re going through right now. It could be so much worse for us, so I’m thankful for what we do have. I’ve enjoyed seeing the snow and ice, but I’ll be glad when its gone. I’ll just go visit it in Colorado if I want to see more. As long as I have electricity, I’ll still continue to upload blog posts here. If you’re new, I’d love it if you’d subscribe down below. You’ll get post updates twice a week and that’s it. Take care everyone! Until next time.
