With Covid shutting down a lot of places, Valentine’s Day is going to look a lot different for a lot of us. While we may still be at home, there are still date ideas that you can do to make Valentine’s Day a little more special. Many of these can be for couples, singles, friends, and even families. Hope this gives you some ideas!
Painting With A Twist– I’ve always wanted to go to Painting With A Twist, but I never have. If you don’t know, Painting With A Twist is a place where you get to paint while loosely following an instructor while having alcohol or your beverage of choice and snacks. It is usually a group thing, but you could always do it with your significant other. It seems so fun even though I know I wouldn’t be the best painter. However, I’ve done something like this at a friend’s house, which means you can also do it in yours. Get you a canvas, paints, and something to drink and snack on. You could pick a picture to get inspired from or you can look on YouTube for one you like. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=painting+with+a+twist+at+home
Bowling- While a lot of bowling allies are closed, you can still have a fun time bowling right from your home! This would be perfect for a couple, friends, and even families. Make some of your favorite treat, put on some shoes that feel like bowling shoes, and create a bowling alley. There are tons of video ideas, so find one that fits for you. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+bowling+alley+
Arcade- If you love playing games like ski ball and packman, this is for you. Fix a pizza or even just a bunch of junk food (its Valentines Day, you can have a little cheat day) and play some games. You can either buy a video game if you have a game system (there is an Atari flashbacks game for Xbox, but you could always find something else), or you make some yourself. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+arcade+games
Ice Cream Shoppe– This is one of the easiest to do at home, but it still is super fun. Buy some different flavors of ice cream and get some toppings such as whipped cream, fudge, nuts, candies, or whatever else you like. It is something simple, but will make you happy whether you’re alone or with family, friends or a significant other.
Cooking Class– An at home cooking class would be fun, plus you’d get some great food out of it. You could either do a food service like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, or Home Chef, or you could buy the ingredients yourself and follow a cooking show, video or even just a recipe you found online. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cooking+at+home+recipes
Movies– This one is fairly common, but still a great date idea. Pick a movie you both will love and fix a bowl of popcorn to share. You could even get some of your favorite candies. For some romantic movie ideas, go here: https://alittlebiteoflife.com/50-favorite-love-stories-from-books-and-movies/
Dancing– Many dance halls and bars are closed, so why not have a “dance hall” at your house? Make a playlist of your favorite songs and have some fun. Dress up in your favorite outfits and dance the night away.
Picnic– Even if the weather isn’t the best, you can still have an indoor picnic. Spread out a blanket and either buy or make some of your favorite picnic foods. To take it even further, dress in some cute picnic inspired clothes.
Camping– This is, again, slightly dependent on the weather. If its a nice weekend, pitch a tent and maybe even make a campfire. You can have smores and watch the stars. If its a nasty weekend, you could always make a pillow fort and do smores indoors.
Putt Putt Golf– This will take some work to create. If you love mini golf though, this would be perfect for you. Get some food that you’d normally eat while golfing at have some fun! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+putt+putt+golf+course+
Carnival/circus– Carnivals and circuses definitely haven’t been open lately, and while you can’t totally recreate them, you could be inspired by them. Have a funnel cake, corn dog, cotton candy, or whatever you like. If you want a bit more of the experience, watch some Cirque Du Soleil videos and pretend you’re there in person. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cirque+du+soleil You could even play a few games and have some cheap prizes to win.
Wine Tour– While you could go to a vineyard, if you want to stay home but still have a wine tour then do that! Buy a few (or a lot )different bottles of wine and try them. There are all kinds of tips for tasting wine that will help. If you still want to see the vineyards, I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsTIAMoDAp0. It does have music as well as nature sounds but it does show some gorgeous vineyards.
Spa Day– Treat yourself, or even a loved one with a spa day. Do a face mask and relax. Take care of yourself and your skin today. You could even throw in a massage or a mani/pedi. Put on a comfy robe and relax. Play some spa music in the background for even more of a spa experience.
Those are all my at home date ideas! A lot of them do take a bit of imagination, but it is something different since many of us are in quarantine. What do you have planned for Valentine’s Day? If you haven’t already, subscribe down below for post updates. Until next time.
